Rent a SUP with us for half a day, and you will experience an unforgettable experience.

You can rent SUP boards on the weekend in the Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads area. On weekdays and weekends, we also rent SUP boards in the Lake Gaston and Kerr Reservoir area south of Richmond, VA, which is a great place for eco-touring.

In the Virginia Beach area, we usually give lessons to beginners in flat water at the back bay on 64th Street. If you are interested in learning to SUP in the surf, we can give you lessons in the ocean as well (if you are feeling adventurous). There are usually dolphins in the water at the north end of Virginia Beach, so this is a great time to do paddleboarding. With SUP boarding in the surf, you use the paddle to complete a bottom turn and to carve along the wave. You can get really long rides on the waves. On the flat water, you need to learn how to paddle efficiently.

Lake Gaston and Kerr Reservoir are beautiful lakes where you can view the grandeur of nature. The bald eagle is making a comeback in southside Virginia, and all types of wildlife reside in Virginia. You have miles of coastline to experience in Lake Gaston and Kerr Reservoir, which is perfect for a day trip with the family or friends. You can now rent up to three SUP boards. You must return the boards in the original condition. You receive boards with paddles and must sign a waiver form and wear life jackets (this is Virginia law).

With the rental of a board, if you are unsure of how to paddleboard, we can give you instruction on the basics with the purchase of a lesson added to the price of the rental for a small fee.

Please note: the cost of rental includes a life jacket. You need to use a life jacket on any personal watercraft according to Virginia State law.

Instruction includes: One full hour of instruction on how to paddle properly and efficiently. We will cover how to use the paddle the most efficiently possible, and discuss the different types of techniques, such as Hawaiian and Tahitian paddling techniques. SUP looks very simple, but proper technique is a must if you would to enjoy the sport. Virginia Power Kites has participated in paddleboard races. We highly recommend instruction along with rental if this is your first time.
